Reverence
– Saviors of Kamigawa rare. The art for Reverence shows the daimyo Takeshi Konda inside the Eiganjo’s throne room. The people around him are suffused with reverence and awe for him, presumably because he can have them executed at a whim.

Opposition
– Urza’s Destiny rare. Opposition represents a duel of pure magic between Barrin and Urza. But when it took the tournament world by storm, it was combined with the cheerful goofiness of Squirrel Nest or the weirdness of Saproling Cluster. The moral: even powerful wizards like having pets!.

Fire // Ice
– Apocalypse uncommon. When the original split cards were proposed for Invasion, Mark Rosewater and Bill Rose had to fight the developers to get them into the set. By the time Apocalypse hit the streets, everybody was firmly onboard!

Сегодня Wizards of the Coast порадовала нас удивительными новостями об “11 базовом издании”. Концепция базовых изданий изменилась, и в частности, это означает следующее:

• Базовые издания будут выходить каждый год, и иметь названия 2010 Core Set, 2011 Core Set и так далее.
• 2010 Core Set при выходе 2011 Core Set не подвергается ротации. Ротации он подвергается одновременно с сетом, после которого был издан Core Set. Например 2010 Core Set вы�?ел после блока Shards Of Alara и подвергается ротации одновременно с ним.
• На 50% Core Set будет состоять из новых карт! А это означает, что для Core Set будут проводиться пререлизы и релизы так же, как и для других изданий.
• Дата пререлиза 2010 Core Set - 12 �?юля 2009 года. Дата релиза - 17 июля. C 17 июля 10 издание подвергается ротации и заменяется 2010 Core Set. Это, между прочим, означает, что Национальный Чемпионат Украины будет проводится еще в “старом” Т2 формате.
• Размер 2010 Core Set - 249 карт. 101 коммонов, 60 анкоммонов, 53 рары, 15 мифических рар и 20 базовых земель.
• В 2010 Core Set не будут переизданы желанные для многих fetchlands, shocklands, painlands и другие, уже известные нам “дуальные” земли. Однако в 2010 Core Set будут изданы абсолютно новые, по заверениям разработчиков, очень интересные “дуалки”!
• Пять planeswalker-ов из Lorwyn будут переизданы в 2010 Core Set.
• В 2010 Core Set будут переизданы всего 8 карт, которые присутствовали в каждом базовом издании.

 Обратите внимание, что Serra Angel - анкоммон, что позволяет сделать выводы о том, что 2010 Core Set будет довольно таки сильный по качеству карт. Обращает на себя внимание и новый вординг в тексте новой карты Silence - “players can’t cast spells”. Очень радует наличие Black Knight-a и Birds of Paradise. Да и в целом, на на�? взгляд, новости исключительно позитивные и заряжают оптимизмом на весь 2010 год.

Caltrops
– Urza’s Destiny uncommon. In the days of Urza’s Block Limited, Caltrops plus Angelic Curator was a fine combo. It never really made it in Urza’s Block Constructed, possibly because of the presence of cards like Time Spiral and Tolarian Academy.

Gleemax
– Unhinged common. We’ve told this story before, but the idea behind Gleemax is that it’s the giant brain that controls R&D. Of course, it’s totally fictional and nothing to worry about. GO ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS, HUMAN.

AWOL
– Unhinged common. Ever wish you could get a better look at the milk carton in the text box? Check out this feature article, which shows jokes so small and obscure even Mark Rosewater didn’t know they were there!

Frost Ogre
– Betrayers of Kamigawa common. In Kamigawa, red cards were associated with snow and ice, resulting in cards like Glacial Ray and Frost Ogre. In most sets, these cards would probably have had a fire-related name, but after all, mountains are usually snow-capped!

Reverse the Sands
– Champions of Kamigawa rare. In the art for Reverse the Sands life totals are represented as age; the figure in the background has stolen the youth of the character in front. Neat, huh?

Forest
– Shards of Alara basic land. Through Fifth Edition, basic lands had the rules text (for example) “: Add to your mana pool.” The “single giant ” first appeared in Portal, but it didn’t make it onto “regular” Magic cards until Sixth Edition.
