Guildpact common. Makihito Morita’s deck at Worlds 2006 won by playing Lotus Bloom, Seething Song, and Rite of Flame in some combination to power out a backbreaking Dragonstorm, fetching enough Bogardan Hellkites and Hunted Dragons to end the game. It was Gigadrowse, however, that won him his Finals match against Ryo Ogura through a Circle of Protection: Red. Mihara played Gigadrowse on his own turn, and Ogura sunk the mana (five???they were Urza’s lands) into the Circle, but couldn’t choose Mihara’s impending storm of Dragons as sources because they were not yet in play.

Ravnica uncommon. Katsuhiro Mori wrapped up his Finals match against Frank Karsten at Worlds 2005 by playing an end-of-turn Congregation at Dawn for three punishing copies of Yosei, the Morning Star. Playing each one by one and then sacrificing them to Greater Good, Mori came from behind to win the game, tapping Karsten down turn after turn and drawing more cards than he knew what to do with.

Stronghold common. In the final game of the 2003 World Championships, Daniel Zink played Mirari against Jin Okamoto???both players playing the Mirari’s Wake deck. Okamoto Mana Leaked it, Zink paid. Okamoto Mana Leaked again, and Zink paid. When Okamoto tapped all but one land to Mana Leak an incredible third time, Zink answered with a Leak of his own. The crowd burst into applause???it’s not every day you see four Mana Leaks played in one turn.
