Skinrender
– Scars of Mirrodin uncommon. Note that it’s called “Skinrender,” not “Skinrenderer.” It rends skin, rather than rendering it.

Sword of Kaldra
– Mirrodin rare. Speaking of Living Weapons, how about a sword that can eventually generate something to carry it? It requires Shield of Kaldra and Helm of Kaldra to work, but to be fair, Kaldra is a bit more impressive than a 0/0 Germ.

Chrome Mox
– Mirrodin rare. According to this Arcana from 2004, you can see Karn’s reflection in Chrome Mox. But since that arcana also claims you can see Britney Spears in Black Lotus and was on April First, it’s possible that it’s lying.

Galvanic Key
– Mirrodin common. Galvanic Key is a reworking of Voltaic Key, except that it references Luigi Galvani rather than Alessandro Volta. Or they might just both be using terms related to electricity, rather than 18th-century Italian physicists. That seems more likely.

Phyrexian Grimoire
– Tempest rare. Although most tournament formats allow you to rearrange your graveyard as much as you like, Eternal formats like Vintage and Legacy still require you to keep the cards where they were originally placed. Why? Cards like Nether Shadow and Phyrexian Grimoire, that’s why. Well, mostly the Shadow.

– New Phyrexia rare. Now that Phyrexia has spread across all of Mirrodin, the fighting still isn’t over. The Phyrexians have split into five factions which are struggling with each other for control, as highlighted by the flavor text in Xenograft: Jin Gitaxias is expressing a basic philosophical difference with Vorinclex.

– New Phyrexia rare. Here’s a fascinating tidbit from Part 4 of A Planeswalker’s Guide to New Phyrexia: Melira is called “the Fleshling” because unlike everyone else on Mirrodin, she was born without any metal anatomy. She is unique in another way: she is immune to the Phyrexian contagion.

– New Phyrexia mythic rare. From the New Phyrexia FAQ: If more than one Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite is on the battlefield, all of their static abilities will briefly apply. Any creatures that have 0 or less toughness and any creatures that now have lethal damage marked on them will be put into graveyards at the same time that the “legend rule” causes the Elesh Norns to be put into graveyards.

– Magic 2012 rare. From the Magic 2012 FAQ: “In multiplayer games, you choose an opponent to separate the cards when the ability resolves. This doesn’t target that opponent. Because the cards are revealed, all players may see the cards and offer opinions.”

– Magic 2012 common. Fling entered the core set in Magic 2011, just after Stone Giant left with Magic 2010. Does the core set only have room for one card based around a giant throwing a creature at your opponent?
